Privacy Policy

Imo Hub Academy (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website imohubacademy.com and the online Yoruba language classes offered through it (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have, particularly as a parent or guardian enrolling a child in our classes.

By using our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

Parent / Guardian Account Information: When you create an account (which happens automatically when you enroll your child in a class), we collect:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Password (stored securely and encrypted; we never see or store your password in plain text)

Information About Your Child: As part of enrollment, we ask for:

  • Child’s full name
  • Child’s age
  • Optional notes about your child (e.g., prior language exposure, interests, or anything that helps us place them in the right class)

This information is provided by you, the parent or guardian. Children do not create their own accounts, log in independently, or submit information about themselves directly through our Service.

Payment Information: When you enroll in a paid class, payment is processed securely through Stripe, our third-party payment processor. We do not collect or store your full credit card number, expiration date, or CVC on our own servers. Stripe’s handling of your payment information is governed by Stripe’s own Privacy Policy.

Class Placement Quiz Responses: If you complete our free class placement assessment, we collect your responses to determine a recommended class level for your child. Quiz responses may be reviewed by our team to confirm placement before enrollment.

Communications: If you contact us through our contact form, email, or otherwise, we collect the information you provide in that communication (such as your name, email address, and the content of your message).

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

Usage Data: Like most websites, we may automatically collect certain information when you visit our Service, including your IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and the time and date of your visit.

Cookies: We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate our Service, remember your login session, and understand how visitors use our site. You can instruct your browser to refuse cookies, though some parts of the Service may not function properly without them.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your parent account
  • Process enrollment and place your child in the appropriate class level
  • Process payments and manage your subscription (including recurring monthly billing)
  • Communicate with you about your account, class schedule, and payments
  • Provide access to your dashboard, including class information, lesson videos, and progress updates
  • Send administrative announcements relevant to your child’s class
  • Respond to questions or requests submitted through our contact form
  • Improve our Service, curriculum, and website functionality
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information or your child’s information to third parties. We share information only in the following circumstances:

Service Providers: We use trusted third-party services to operate our Service, including:

  • Stripe, for payment processing
  • MemberPress, for account and membership management
  • Our web hosting provider, for storing and delivering our website

These providers only receive the information necessary to perform their function and are bound by their own privacy and security obligations.

Instructors and Staff: Information about your child (name, age, class level, and progress notes) is shared internally with the instructors and staff directly involved in teaching and supporting your child’s class.

Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law, or in response to valid legal requests by public authorities.

Business Transfers: If Imo Hub Academy is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change and any choices you may have.

4. Children’s Privacy

Imo Hub Academy provides classes for children ages 5–12. We are mindful of the sensitivity of information relating to children and have designed our enrollment process accordingly:

  • All account creation, enrollment, and payment are performed by a parent or legal guardian, not by the child.
  • Children do not independently create accounts, log in, or submit personal information about themselves through our Service.
  • We collect only the information about your child that is reasonably necessary to place them in an appropriate class and support their learning (name, age, and optional notes).
  • We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children, and our Service is not directed at children for independent use.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information directly, please contact us so we can address it appropriately.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information and your child’s information for as long as your account remains active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal, tax, or accounting obligations, and to maintain accurate business records. If you would like your data deleted, you may contact us using the information below, subject to any retention obligations we may have.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including secure password storage and the use of reputable third-party providers (such as Stripe) for payment processing. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you or your child
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your information, subject to our legal retention obligations

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information below.

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party service you interact with, including YouTube’s Privacy Policy for embedded video content.

9. International Users

Imo Hub Academy serves diaspora families worldwide. If you are accessing our Service from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where our servers and service providers are located.
